I just had new brake pads put on my car and about a day later I noticed a banging sound near front tire only when I hit a certain bump. And I think I hear sort of a rubbing sound but not sure about that

Hold light pressure on the brake pedal to see if the noise stops. If it does, an anti-rattle clip on a pad is not doing its job, or something else is letting the pad rattle. Loose pads are rarely a safety issue but they can be annoying.

There are other things that can rattle right after the vehicle was raised on a hoist. That comes from stretching rubber bushings or causing other parts to become repositioned. It's important to understand that raising the vehicle on the hoist did not CAUSE the noise. It simply made the worn parts become noisy. They would have done that on their own pretty soon anyway.

We haven't even diagnosed anything yet until you at least do what I described. If that stops the noise, go back to the shop that did the brake work and give them the opportunity to correct any mistake or check for broken or missing anti-rattle clips and springs. There won't be any charge for their work or the parts they replaced. They can legitimately charge for additional parts that you weren't charged for before, but most reputable shops want you to be happy so they'll donate those parts.
