Bad oil leak/dipstick?

The dipstick is loose in the block, it is not bolted to the block where the bracket is. I have not put it on a rack to really take a look as yet. I guess I am asking does the bottom of the tub where it goes into the Block have an O-ring or some kind of rubber gasket/bushing. When the oil is checked the tube and stick come out together. Also, it is my son's car.

Hi,

There should be an o-ring where it attaches to the engine. Also, check it closely for rust. I've seen them rust and leak.

I attached a pic below and circled where the o-ring sits. If you install a new one, make sure to lubricate it with oil prior to installing it.
