Hi,

How much was put in it? If it was a substantial amount, the fuel tank should be drained, the pump cleaned out, and the fuel line should be blown out to eliminate as much as you can.

If you blow out the fuel lines, make sure it is disconnected at the fuel rail and replace the filter.

Let me know if that helps or if you have other questions.

Take care and Merry Christmas.

Joe

So, I siphoned about 5 gallons of water. I'm pretty sure I didn't get it all, but I did have a half tank now it's past e and the low fuel light is on. Is there anything I could add to it to take away what water is left in the line, or do I just put fuel back into the truck and try and start it?

Jerry,

I suggest removing the fuel pump so you can blow out the lines. The filter is integral to the sending unit in the fuel tank, so it isn't something you can disconnect under the hood.

Or Very Carefully, you could disconnect the fuel supply hose at the engine, place it in a safe container, and turn the key on and off so the pump empties the tank into the container.

No matter what you do (unless you take everything apart) there is going to be some still present. However, once you get it running, it should clean itself out. It will be very difficult to get it going if you don't clear the fuel line and rail.

Let me know.

Joe

So, I'm trying to not drop the fuel tank but it's the only way to get to the fuel pump but if you can send me a diagram of which hose to disconnect it would really help me out.

Merry Christmas Joe and family, but if you could just show me a diagram of which hose, I could disconnect so I could blow the lines out.

Hi Jerry,

I attached a pic below showing the fuel rail and I highlighted the supply connector. Once the fuel pump is removed and the tank is empty, you can blow air back through the supply hose to the tank.

To disconnect it, a special tool is required. I attached directions for disconnecting the line starting at pic 2.

Let me know how things turn out for you. I hope you had a good Christmas as well.

Joe

Hey Joe, I tried to get a new filter but it's a non-serviceable part, so I disconnected the hose of the fuel rail and say. In the driver's seat and kept on/off got about another 1/4 of a gallon more water out then sprayed starting fluid then it started but shut off, then I put 2gallons fuel starting fluid a couple of try then it ran drove to the gas station and good to go. Thanks

Hi,

Thanks for the update. That extra 1/4 gallon would have taken forever to get through the system. Plus, it likely would have caused other issues.

Regardless, I'm glad it's running again. You take care of yourself, have a great New Year, and feel free to come back anytime in the future.
