2004 Audi A6 6 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic 58K miles

The light looks like an engine but it indicates a malfunction in the engine. Its flashing the car bounces up and down, vibrates when driving and when the car is stopped it vibrates but when I dont give it gas it rides smooth. Im taking it in for 60k maintenance very soon. It had 50K maintenance not sure what it is. What should I do its not under warranty.
Thanks,
Howie

Howie,
You shouldn't be driving it like that. There is damage being done to the converter when this blinking is happening. There is a misfire going on probably and the excessive fuel is getting to the converter.

This needs to be diagnosed ASAP.
Not a D-I-Y kind of thing.

The converter may be plugged as on possibility. Hard to say exactly, but it need to get looked at by a shop that does CEL diagnosis.

I ran out of gas a few weeks ago it was acting up a little after that stalling etc. Now a few weeks later its vibrating up and down but when I dont give it gas it is smooth.
Im going to fill the tank and see if it fixes it also.

You do whatever you want to, I can only give you my input.

Again, a flasing check engine light is not something to fool with. There is too much fuel that is not getting burned or a restriction in the converter.

Why do you think filling the tank is going to help?

Then don't go to the dealership,
find a localgarage that is audi friendly and up to snuff on diagnostics.

I can't put a cost on a problem that I don't have the answer for.

I am not trying to be sarcastic, just trying to relate.

How much does it cost to have world peace?

Granted it isn't THAT gray, but it needs diagnosis.

Need help finding a garage, I may be able to help.
Just need the city and state your in.
However, I give no promises. But will try to help.

I will offer you some choices.I don't know any of these shops

I am more comfortabale that they are IATN members,

You'll need to contact them and talk to them.

You need to find out if they are audi friendy before you go too far.
