I have the codes p1612 and p1749 come up when I scan my car. So I bought a tranny computer for the car. The problem is that I have to program it now to make it work. I have a fully registered version of vag-com, and woul dlike to know how to program it through that program.

Thanks

In my opinion, the TCM may fix P1749 but according to the chart you may need an ECM to fix P1612. But you can probably re-program your current ECM, maybe. Anyway, I am sending you via email the instruction for VAG1551 scan tool procedure. It is way too big to post.

As you may know, vag com uses the standard DLC pin for the OBD-II system. You will need the USB adapter to plug into the 16-pin DLC. It is an option for the vag com and should have purchased together with vag com.

I have all the following tools for the procedure that I purchased on eBay with the laptop, hookups, software etc. The problem is, I don't know how to do the whole entire programing part. What I need to know is step by step on how to program the tranny computer.

Thanks

As a technician, I deal with factory info and TSB. I have no info about aftermarket programming. Your best bet is to contact the software manufacturer.
