Just had transmission changed, used with 104,000 miles, the car has 198,000. Had filter and oil changed after installation, installed the new transmission with same brain and multifunction switch that came woth new transmission. The car is in limp mode and cannot reset. Tried several times, even changed to old multifuntion switch and TCU, and still not able to reset the computer. Car drives fine on third gear it seems to be stuck on, slow starting but goes fine, no noise, just won't shift. Can you help? It's doing the same as when old transmission was in place, but Aamoco locally said they need to rebuild it. Thought was cheaper just to change to a good used trany. Also when shifting from P to R or D it makes a clangging noise, like something is loose. Thanks

It sounds like they didnt fix what they said they were going to. This is where you have to stand your ground, and let these people know, they need to fix the problem or you will have no choice but to go to the motor vehicle department and file a claim and then you can tell them that you will be contacting the states attorneys office, you are not playing around. Let me know your thoughts

So sorry, I mixed your question up with another. Its highly unlikely that both transmissions could have the same thing wrong internally, so rebuilding it, I dont think will solve anything. Was the torque converter also replaced with this tranny?

Yes, converter was changed along with TCU and Multifunction Switch and now salvage yard sent me the ECU as well (al from same car). After having it installed, waited 3 minutes with ingition on as recomended and that should have recycled and reset it all, but to no avail. Will have it reset on Monday by the computer and will let you know. Ther's something electronic wrong here and now I 'mm thinking the old tranny was fine, it's something else. Can you think of anything else? Thanks PS. Engine light is off when you initially start then comes on-always does that. I remember few months back, I had stalled engine while pulling out fuse for cigarrete lighter, by pulling out fuse to transmission instead, and engined died. At that time tranny wwent into limp mode but just 5th gear was not working. Had it reset, then it was fine, now it's stuck on third, same as old transmission. Also when it was cold out, dashboard cluster would flicker until car warmed up, then it would go away. Thanks again.

I agree about the old transmission being nothing wrong, also what sucks so bad about this whole thing is, a bad sensor will not always set a trouble code. What about the vehicle speed sensor that is located at the tranny. Im gonna look through my references and see if I can find something, anything. Talk to you soon

Thanks, The speed sensor is the one that came with new tranny, if it's the sensor that looks like temp sensor and is located on the front left side near the axle area. What are the chances that both are bad?

Right, how bout vacuum lines to the tranny, If one of them have a crack, you know what that means, unless of course you replaced the lines with new ones when you changed the tranny. Also I am wondering if the harnasses to the tcm and pcm are faulty. Bad connection or something. Have that checked, and I'll keep digging

As you well know this type of transmission is all electronic and has no vaccum connected to it. What do you mean by pcm? Will change speed sensor since it's not that expensive just in case.

When I say pcm I mean the vehicles computer, and the transmission control unit, how they connect with a harnass? The connection may not me solid, or could be some wiring in bad shape inside the harnass.
