Are they culpable for timing chain going out after engine gasket replacement?

My daughter took her vehicle listed above to the shop for her suspension and a few other little things. They told her that her engine's oil gasket desperately needed to be replaced. She said okay, $2600.00 later she picked her car up and had to immediately turn around to go back because the oil light and engine lights came on. They told her it was fine. She had sludge on her engine. Get another (they had just done one) oil change in a month or two to flush it out. She left here the next day to go back to college but got stranded on the highway engine dead. They are saying they are not culpable, and it was the timing chain. I think that it is very coincidental that she had no engine lights until she went to the shop, and then her engine failed the next day.

Good morning, rmwitt@comcast. Net,

Sounds to me they messed something up. No way, the chain just happened to go right after they were in there.

She had sludge in her engine so her oil light and engine light is on? I have never heard of that. I don't want to throw around conspiracy theories, but it sounds like they wanted to get her off the lot so then they can say "Well she drove it away and it was fine."

But that is my opinion. Let's see if we can figure out what they did.

Can you tell me more about the gasket they replaced?

Thank you,
Brendon
