Needing to know if there is anyway to reset the anti theft system on my Lincoln ls myself? It will crank over but will not start. It has done this once before and had a friend reset it with his computer. I am not able to afford for him to do this again so that is why I am here now asking this question. I have the key as well as the button that came with the car. Please help if anyone knows of a way to reset this on your own.

Try another key if you have one not a new one. If that does not work look online for your owners manual.

I have another key but I had to have it made recently due to my purse being stolen. I did get my original key and button back about a month ago.

I have been using both keys off an on what ever key I grab out of my purse at the time and it has been starting and driving fine, until the other day. I had ran out of gas and when ever I got gas and tried to start it again it would crank but not start.

Running out of gas is really tough on your fuel pump. It might have burnt out. When you turn your key to the second position (without starting it) can you hear anything coming from your fuel tank? There should be some sort of sound like the fuel pump is trying to work. Have a helper turn the key to the second position while you listen for the sound. If you cannot hear anything, this could mean your fuel pump is burnt out and needs to be replaced.

Have a helper hit bottom of tank with either a rubber hammer or palm of hand sometimes that makes the pump work. For how long is anyone's guess but it may get you where you need to go.
