Hi,

Looks like the Amp is under the rear shelf. Here is the procedure on how to replace the amp.

Let me know if you need more info. Thanks

How many watts is the built-in amp in a 1999 Buick Regal LS. When purchasing a new replacement amp, how many watts should it be. Do I have to match the wattage on the car stereo and speakers? My Buick Rgal LS has 2 back 6x9 speakers, 2 front, maybe 6.5" speakers and 2 tweeters. Is that considered a 6 speaker sound system so the amp has to be a 6 channel amp?

Yes. You need one channel for each speaker. As for the amount of power for the Amp you need to match or exceed that of you speakers. Here is a good video that explains what to look for.

Please note that they are saying more wattage of the amp is not a bad thing in fact it is recommended. Keep in mind, the OEM already took this into account so if you are using your factory speakers then you don't need to increase the power that much.

I have the factory car radio with no 3.5mm headphone jack so I can't connect my smartphone to it to listen to music. If I take the antenna connection in the head piece and split the signal with a 3.5mm input, will this work? Will I be able to connect my smartphone to it to listen to music?

How do I access the rear shelf where the 6x9's are and the Amp is. Do I have to take the backseat apart to reach them?

Probably not. Look in the trunk and see if you can access it from there. I attached the instructions earlier and it says to remove the trim and then sound barrier. More than likely this is from the trunk.
