Customer wants the alternator tested for proper operation and if faulty, wants it replaced. I wanted to get step-by-step instructions on the replacement of it and in car test of amps and volts with Multi meter. Please and thanks.

Hi,

As far as testing the alternator, check the battery voltage with the engine off. It should be approximately 12.5V. With the engine running, recheck the voltage at the battery. It should be between 13V and 15V.

As far as the alternator is concerned, it isn't an easy one. The engine needs to be turned to make the bolts accessible. However, it isn't as difficult as you may think.

If you look below, I attached the rotating the engine directions first. The remaining pictures, starting with the fourth one, are the directions for replacement. Also, labor called for 1.5 hours.

I hope this helps.

Take care,

joe
