All tires locked, tranny blown

Three days ago my sons transmission died, it was a recently purchased re built tranny, that's not the biggest problem right this second, when the tow truck came to get the car, they found that ALL 4 tires were locked. The man with the rollback had to drag the car up onto the truck and then when the got to the garage they had to grease the rollback, tilt it up slowly to drop the car onto the ground! This happened in KY. And the tranny HAS a warranty BUT in ohio, I would love to get the tires rolling b/c the towing bill is gonna be murder and they're are cheaper methods to get it back to ohio so the transmission can be replaced. Thank you!

Sounds like the axles up front are locking them will the car shift to neutral so you can roll it up on the truckor actually if you get the type of tow rig from uhausl you dont' need to worry about he front wheels as the tires wil ride thatthen you just hve to get the back wheels to turn you might try bleeding the back brakes and making sure the parking brake is off to see If they will turn.

Thank you for your quick response. No the car does not shift into neutral, the tranny is just, dead. I just want to unlock the wheels to get it towed. The car is a front wheel drive if that helps. My son is a first year mechanic student and he is out of ideas! And others are making suggestions to pull the drive shaft out.

Likei sadi in the first response uhaul has a tow rig that you jack up front wheels and the wheels don't turn so you can tow it behind a car. So all you need to do is get the back wheels free which you can pull each wheel and turn the piston backwards to release the parking brake then it can be towed pic included. You may need a tool to do this but auto parts sell these.
