97 Caravan tranny issues

HI Guys! A quick question regarding a van I inhereted- it was working fine until one day when the tranny just stopped working. We went to tow it home and the tranny would not move out of park- the lever and indicator would move but when we towed it backwards the wheels were locked. It did go into drive after it was warmed up but that was it. No reverse and low and second made no difference. It is a 3 liter engine and a 3 speed tranny. Could it be a solonoid pack or something worse? Help me!

Check the tranny licage.

Yeah its all good- like I said it did go into drive after the engine warmed up, but nothing else

Does it have a reveser now? Does it work. And the way it sounds is the tranny is slipping. Id go to a tranny, you might want to go to a garage and get it checked for sure.I might be wrong, tranns are the most unprdictable part on vehicles work perfect one day and go the next.
