Mechanic at local garage says small leak in front oil seal; also, time for timing belt change. Suggests take it to dealer. Dealer service says can't give estimate of coast without exam of car. Maybe have to do water pump etc. Is this likely? Any sense of cost for these three items: front oil seal; timing belt; water pump. Thanks. R Cox

Are you saying is that the thermostat is located somewhere on the engine by following the lower hose. Then why most advice I get is to follow the upper hose to engine?I even check the diaphram on different sites and even told me to follow the upper hose to engine. There is a lower fat hose conected from radiator to somewhere tho. Hopefully this will solve the problem. Also, what is usually the major problem why temp gauge goes up to "H".

Why temp. Gauges go to H could be a malfunction in the gauge, your thermostat is stuck closed or your cooling fan isn't working properly to keep the engine at spec operating temperature.

I don't know much about thermostat locations where they follow the lower radiator hose so I can't say much man. Sorry I couldn't be more help here. Good luck -op-

Most Hondas only overheat for a couple simple reasons:
thermostat/radiator cap (change both at the same time on all Hondas!)
low/no coolant (this is caused by hose leak or heater core leak)
blown head gasket

Check the underside of the oil cap for what looks like chocolate milk. If this is present, you have a blown head gasket.

It is a must repair The engine has two timing belts, one for each bank. While you are right there change the water pump as it is driven by the belt. Also change the tensioner as it is a high failure item. I suspect about 1k to 1.5K
