1998 Grand Prix GTP sunroof

Last time I used my sunroof it wouldn't stop and left the tracks and scratched the top of my car. My husband took it a part, put it back on track and it did it again. So he disabled it. I would like to use this again. Any idea what the problem is?

According to the trouble shooting manual, if the sunroof opens or closes but does not stop, replace the sunroof module. The book says it is a 1.6 hour job and the part should be around $125.
So, I would suspect it to cost around $275 if you have a dealer repair it.
