Have you had your fuel pump pressure checked recently, or have you changed your fuel filters?

To start, I would check your fuel lines, filters, and pump. If those are alright, I would take a look at the fuel distributor.

If I remember correctly, Mercedes has an electronic valve on their fuel distributor that helps control fuel supply at idle. If the valve is bad, you'll normally hear a buzzing sound coming from it, and the engine won't start well or idle. The valve is costly at around $300, but it's best to find an entire used fuel distributor online (ebay?). Usually they sell for just a few dollars, but just make sure the valve is still on the piece. It may even be your fuel distributor.

A friend of mine had a similar problem, and after changing his fuel distributor (including the electronic valve), the engine would respond again.
