1986 F-150 4X4 302 engine sputters and stalls

I just bought this 86 f150 with 95,000 miles. The truck ran great for about 200 miles combined city/highway. Suddenly today it started idling rough and stalling (starts right back up easily). It hesitates to accelerate. I have to feather the gas causing the truck to kick in and out with occasional spit noise from engine. Where should I start? Thanks in advance. This happens after the truck reaches running temperature.

The check engine light has never come on. Also, once the problem starts, even idling is difficult. The truck runs great for 5 - 10 miles and then starts having problems which become increasingly worse until after about 20 miles it starts stalling.
