I was driving early in the morning in Arizona at 2 in the morning and it was about 95 degrees out and as I was driving all my lights went out on all my buttons except my cluster and my screen. And the under glow under the dash which is stock lighting went out. That has button of its own in my center box with. 115-volt regular plug which can be turned on and off too. My front headlight ring around the center light went out, the LED strip under the light went out, my side marker went out my turn signal on my mirror went out and my back taillight went out all on the same driver's side and license plate light.

If I understand correctly, only one side of the vehicle. Is that correct? Also, did the headlamps fail as well?

There is an IPS control module in the smart junction box that may have failed. See pic below. However, I would recommend having the can-bus scanned to see if there are codes related to the module.

IPS stands for Intelligent Power Switch. Basically, it is a new technology used to replace fuses and relays. The bad part is the intelligent power distribution box will likely need to be replaced if it has failed. That is why I'm recommending scanning the can-bus.

CAN stands for controller area network. The different modules are tied together via a few wires and communicate back and forth. This type of scan will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. I would suggest doing this before simply replacing parts.

Here is a link that explains how it's done:

Let me know your thoughts.

Take care,

Joe

Hi,

Okay. We really need to know if there are any codes that are related. I suspect it is related to the IPS, but I won't make that decision without codes indicating that is where the problem is coming from.

Are you able to have the scan done I mentioned above?

Let me know.

Hi,

If the scan tool you have is a basic scanner, it will only retrieve powertrain codes. You need one that will scan the can-bus circuit. That way, it will retrieve codes regardless of the module storing them. Do you know if the scan tool can do that?
