Airbag light stays on, horn does not work. The middle of steering wheel where airbag would be feels soft.

The combination of symptoms points to a broken clock spring. That is a wound-up ribbon cable in a plastic housing under the steering wheel? Is there more to the story? Was the air bag deployed and someone cut it off and did not replace it?

It was purchased like this and the Carfax was negative for accidents and airbag deployment. There is no physical evidence of any major repair. Would the clock spring make the center of the steering (airbag area) soft, almost like an empty feeling?

Good evening.

No, the clock spring is down inside the column. You cannot feel it at all.

Lets start with the codes. Do you know the code that is set for the air bag light?

No, there is not.

A parts store will check it for free for you. Once we know the code, we can narrow the area of failure.
