Hi, I have a the vehicle listed above station wagon and I would like to eventually install an aftermarket air intake. I’m having issues finding an appropriate intake coupler though. I need a circular 90 degree intake with a sensor insert on it. I’m not sure which sensor it is though. It’s right under the intake tube. The current coupler is a 90 degree circular one at the bottom but is rectangular up top. I would like to know what sensor this is? And also if there is a way to rectify this issue if possible?

Hello,

It is either a Mass Airflow Sensor (MAF) or an Intake Air Temperature Sensor (IAT) or it's probably both, because if you have one you have to have the other. A MAF is a 3 to 4' tube with an electrical connector on top. It measures the amount of air that the engine is ingesting. The IAT is a thermister that measures the temperature of the incoming air. It is a small round thermister that usually fits in 3/4 to 1" hole in a rubber tract or boot of the intake system and usually has a two wire connector. (0 degree boots can be found at most auto parts store or on Ebay or Amazon for a reasonable price.

Thanks,
Alex
