There is a split in the black hose part that goes into my air filter (I do not know the name of it). I was told it was a housing unit but every time I look it up nothing shows. I know the part is discontinued, but I need to know the name of it so I can try and find a piece. Can you help me?

Can you identify it from the diagram on this page?

I do not know why that air cleaner looks different, but here are the air cleaner parts for the 2.2:

Let me see if I can find the exact part. Is this a base model or GT and is it a two door or two door convertible?
Also what is the eighth and tenth digit of the VIN number?

So could I use a different part? Or would I have to change the filter part with it?

I do not know yet, I cannot find a element or whatever they call it that has an oblong connection at the air cleaner end. They all appear to be round. That is why I wanted to confirm the model and engine and year.

When I looked for it online I think I found it but it was for a Cavalier, so I went back and chose Cavalier instead on that GM parts site and it does show a oblong connection at the air cleaner.

the part number is 10103592 and it is called a duct, but I did find one used for $36 here, M and K Used Auto, Inc. USA-FL(Orange-City) 1-386-775-2200

I believe so, it is also the 2.2l engine.
What is your zipcode, I will see if there is maybe a salvage yard you can drive to that has one.
This is the database that searches 1,000's of salvage yards and I did find dozens of them air cleaner ducts, that was the only one that had a photo of it though.

The closest is 164 miles away, so I believe you will most likely be having it shipped. If you want to see all the results since that page will not allow me to save the search, just put in the 1991 Chevy Beretta and the part is air box/air cleaner and you can enter your zip code, then contact them who list it and ask them if they have that actual duct included and how much to ship it to you.

I see some as low as $15.00 and $20.00.
