My air conditioner works but it will not stay on all the time. It turns its self off then one minute later comes on again for a few minutes.I want it to stay on constantly. Can you help?

It likely has a temp sensor in the evaporator that shuts the compressor off when the evaporator gets too cold and close to freezing.

Do I need a new temp Denver, and is it expensive, can I fit it myself

First thing to do to diagnose this is get the high and low pressures check with a duel gauge manifold set, best get a certified A/C tech to do this as they will be able to understand what is going on with the pressure readings that they read.
