Hi Guys,

My car has sat for about a year, and I have found a couple of things upon start up. The engine revs on its own when it is in park, or neutral. It stops revving when placed in gear. Also, the cooling fan is not turning when the engine is revving.

I am thinking that it is bad gas causing the revving and the reason the fan isn't turning is because the engine isn't hot.

Any ideas?

Start by checking the coolant level, If ok, change the thermostat, they are prone to sticking after setting that long. The revs are most likely caused by the lack of coolant for the coolant sensor to read, same as the cooling fan
