I have climate controlled heat and it used to take a while for it to kick in in cold weather but now it won't kick on at all, i've even ran the car for several hours and still nothing- what could be the problem?

Your valve which opens and closes allowing heat from your engine to enter your car is stuck. If you pop your hood it is in the back middle. Spray it with wd40 and you should be good to go.

Replace thermostat too. If it doesnt work and ur heat gauge starts going up and car revs for no reason. Change ur fan switch asap. It goes and then ur in a world of head gasket trouble.
