1997 Acura TL Front Wheel Drive Automatic 230000 miles

i recently purchased a 1997 acura tl 2.5 5 cylinder. It has approximately 230,000 miles and the previous owner said that the engine was rebuilt recently. Would there be any reason other than "just because" that the engine would need to be rebuilt?

Depends on how it was treated during its life. IF neglected and not serviced, it may have had internal damage, or it may have just started burning oil, without knowing the car beforehand, it is impossible to tell
