Electrical problem
2005 Acura RSX 4 cyl Two Wheel Drive Automatic

We were not able to start the car. It turned, but the battery was very low and it gave out. When connecting the jumper cables, they were incorrectly connected negative to positive. The mistake was not caught for about 5 minutes. The car is now completely dead. No systems working at all and the key will not release from the ignition. I am hoping we blew a fuse, but can’t see where one is blown. I pulled the 40A main fuse for the ignition, but haven’t tested it yet. If it is not this fuse, what can I expect it to be?

Hi jim bataillon,

Connect a charged battery and use a test lamp to test the main fuse box current supply. Check all main connections, eg battery terminals and ground straps.

Reverse connection of batteries normally blow the main fuse first.

If nothing works, it might be a blessing, if things works and the car won't start, then you might have fried the ECU.
