My son has a 2001 Acura Integra and he has installed a Vibrant Exhaust system, Short Ram Air air intake with a K&N Filter and new Magna Flow Catalytic converter. Ever since he did all this the check engine light has been on, he has replaced the rear O2 sensor (as indicated by the engine codes). Now the engine codes for the check engine light indicates the problem is the catalytic converter. Having made all these exhaust changes has he changed the emission "mix"? Does the ECM chip need replacing or can this problem be fixed? He wants to sell the car and needs to get the light out, I would appreciate your comments thank you.

What is the code that is being thrown?

You state he put on a new high flow convertor, well sometimes these do not operate efficently enough for the downstream sensor. Dependent on the code he may need to get a new convertor such as was put on at the factory, put the old one back on, or buy o2 sensor eliminator made for his vehicle and used for the last sensor to trick the computer that it is working when in reality it isnt. Will not effect driveability.

With messing with the other intake mods he did will not affect the emission levels as the computer will adjust for the more air and add more fuel and give it the perfect 14.1:1 ratio for a efficent engien.

Thanks for the reply, I will get the code and advise. The old converter has been "dumped". Where do you advise getting the O2 eliminator, on-line or dealer?

I would check online or maybe at a vehicle performance/exhaust shop and see if they have one or what they can do for you to eliminate it.

On your son car new Magna flow catalytic converter, did he buy it at Advance auto part? Was it a direct fit one or high flow one. Part for direct fit one should be 22629.
