Electrical problem
1989 Acura Integra 4 cyl Front Wheel Drive Automatic

when I press my brakes, the warning light comes on and I dont know why it does that. Also my horn doesn't work. My interior light doesn't work. And my lights wont flip down and I check all the fuses and they were good except I wasn't able to check the bigger fuses like the 50a and the 30a

To check the bigger fuses the easiest way is to use a grounded test lamp to probe either end to test for presence of voltage.

Your problem should not be with the main fuses. Since all fuses are ok, hope you tested with a test lamp, some bad fuse might look good visually, the next most likely fault would be the grounding of the circuit.

I believe not all the components failed at the same time and you could be having a few causes.

For the trunk light turning on with the brakes applied, check the taillight wire harness grounding ini trunk.

For the interior light, did you check the bulb? Does it turn on when the door ajar function is used or when switched on by the manual switch at the light?

As to hrn not working, did you test the horn and power supply to it? It could be the horns are faulty or a bad switch contact.

The headlights not closing could be due to the motor or its controlling circuit such as the switches oe relays.

When I started my car today the brake light on the dash came on (not sure if this is related or not) check the fluid level and its fine. When I went to turn my car off I could hear the starter still cranking. When I put the key to the on position (not the start position) the car starts right up. Because I am at work I tried stalling the car while it was running and the starter motor just putts the car along (in any gear). After leaving it running for 10 min or so I tried turning the car off again and it did. I am afraid to start my car to go for lunch in case it won't turn off again. Any idea what may cause the starter to stay engaged after the key has be turned off?

Thanks
Matt

Yes the ignition switch is faulty. What you can do in the mean time, is, when you want to turn the car off just disconnect the negative cable. But you need to change the ignition switch, better yet, before doing that, have someone check the reomote wire on the starter, check all the wiring from the battery to the starter, to the alternator for that matter.

Hi juzbecuz,

Did you check the underhood fusebox for a blown stop light fuse?

The other possible cause would be a faulty brake switch located at brake pedal support.

Take this to a pro so he can scan the abs system to see what is wrong with it. Your brake light may b on because of a bad master cylinder or leak in system.
