Hey guys,

I test drove a manual 1994 acura integra. It had a swapped stock 1.8 4cyl. Honda/acura engine that has 70,000 miles on it. When I test drove it the engine made a ticking noise that got louder with acceleration. My friend has a 1995 honda accord that also makes a ticking noise and says that its just a typical honda engine noise. The car also wasn't driven much.

Do you have any idea what this ticking noise is? And do you think its worth buying?(I dont plan on having it for more then a year or 2)

Thanks, Eric

Hi GReddy1991,

Ticking noises can be from 2 different areas.

If it is from the valves tappets, some adjustment can reduce it.

If the noise level is louder and more pronounced during acceleration, it could be due to bad con rod bearings, not an easy to handle job.
