Recently I overhauled the air conditioning system on my truck listed above. Every component of the system was replaced. Compressor, condenser, orifice tube, evaporator, suction accumulator, pressure cutoff switch, cycling switch, and the refrigerant lines. Replacement parts are all Ford/Motorcraft brand except for the compressor which is Denso and the cycling switch which is Four Seasons. The oil in the new Denso compressor was drained/measured prior to installation and 9 ounces of Motorcraft PAG oil was added to the system dispersed amongst the compressor, condenser, evaporator, and suction accumulator. All connections were torqued to spec. After the replacement work was completed, the system was vacuumed, and a local automotive shop charged the system with refrigerant.
The air conditioning in the truck works and blows very cold, but the compressor clutch does not engage for about 2 to 5 minutes after starting the truck and switching on the air conditioning. Once the clutch does engage, the system blows cold air without any issues.
What could be the cause of this clutch engagement delay?
