Hi, I recently replaced the ABS module on the vehicle listed above with OEM factory part from dealership. I have access to wiTech and am trying to initialize the module, but it will not start. I will attach two photos of the fault and trouble codes present due to the module not being initialized.

Good evening,

The codes are there because the VIN number is not entered into the module.

You need to install the VIN number before the initialization will start.

How do I install the VIN into the module? There are no flashes available for this vehicle in wiTech.

So that picture with the? Infront is the VIN with the new module installed which is incorrect. The picture below is the old module installed with the correct VIN number.

The only thing I can conclude is if the module is used. However, I did purchase this module from a Chrysler dodge dealership. So, I don’t want to doubt the module.

And the old ABS module initializes perfectly. It just has an internal fault code present - reason for replacement.

You are correct, it is a used module.

You need the factory scan tool to change the VIN number to your exact number. Once that is done, you will be able to set it up. There are some cases where you cannot change the VIN which means you need another module.

I would tell the dealer that they gave you a module with a number already in it. It should be blank and ready to add the VIN number.

Since I am using the factory Chrysler wiTech software, where would I change the VIN? I tried resetting the ABS module and clearing configurations, but that's all I found. When I do get a new module, how would I write the VIN in? By flashing? Or is there another procedure?

You have to enter it manually.

I just spoke to a friend at the dealer. He said to return the module and get a new one. He said you cannot write a new VIN in one that already has one in it.

Then it will be programmed.
