Hello,

I replaced the ABS Assembly in my 2001 Chevrolet Suburban 1500 LS w/o traction control, with a used, compatible ABS Assembly (twice). ABS light is still on. Am I required to reprogram the ABS module for it to run properly?

No the ABS module self learns, can I ask what the ABS code is? You probably have a front bearing hub going out which houses the ABS wheel speed sensor. This is a common problem with these 4x4 subs. Here are two videos to go over to help us fix it.

Please go over these and get back to me so I can help you fix it.

Thank you for your feedback. The code being thrown is C0265 (Solenoid Control Monitor Error) Fix: Replace EBCM. Which I've done twice.

I also replaced:
- all 4 Brake Calipers/Rotors/Pads
- Master Cylinder
- Vacuum Booster
- Brake Lines
- Front Wheel Speed Sensors

It doesn't feel like I have any rear brakes. The front brakes tend to lock up when I brake hard. The ABS unit obviously is not working.

I appreciate your advice in advance!

Greg

Okay, there is a main ABS system ground on the left front of the body mount, (black wire) , Here is a guide you can use to test it, connect the test light to power for the test.

Disconnect the electrical connector first, let us know how it goes

Thank you for your response. A few additional points if I may. I detached, cleaned and re-bolted the two ground wires in the left front of the body mount previously as I heard there were issues with this. That said, I did not test the wiring to the ABS module itself. I am not quite sure how to go about what you advised above. I do have a multimeter (though I'm by no means a pro at using) but I do not have the test light. Further, I am not certain how to test this.
1. Do I unplug the ABS unit from the wire harness as well as the ground wire that is attached to the body? From there I am not sure how to use the multimeter to test for power, or ground.
2. Can you direct me specifically on how to do this?

Really appreciate your help!

Yes, remove the large electrical connector red/black, then set you meter to ohms and use the red lead to contact the black wire in the connector, then touch the black lead to a good ground, have the meter set to OHMS, the should be 0 or close to 0 for the ground to test good. But I need to tell you testing without load can give toy a false reading.
