Check engine keeps coming on even after installing new carburetor kit and adjusting, choke and idle and mixture screws, checked TPS and voltage was good. Checked for vacuum leaks and repaired them, replaced valve cover gaskets, PVC valve, it has a 4bl Rochester carburetor with a 305 engine. Codes are: 13, 22, 23 and 24. What else should I fix and check?

Hello,

Did you reset the Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) or "check engine" light after you made the repairs?

Thanks,
Alex

We had the battery unhooked when we did the driver side CV axle on the day after and then re-hooked it after. Wouldn't this amount of time reset the MIL or do I need to do something different? I drove it around a few blocks but it came back on with these codes above the. And he was having a problem restarting it about a week later. It wouldn't do anything when he turned the key he said. Thought is was starter since battery was new. But I tried it a couple of days later and it took me couple of tries of turning the key over real hard to get it to crank but it did so I'm thinking that may have something to do with the ignition switch having a short after a horn button was wired in. I still have to check that out since it looks like the plastic on the steering column broke because of its age. Not sure? But I read the codes after I drove it and it was the ones above. 13, 22, 23 and 24. What do you think? Thanks for the last reply also.

Hello again,

Yes, unplugging the battery would reset the Keep Alive Memory (KAM) in the Power-train Control Module (PCM). I have included in the diagrams down below factory troubleshooting guides for all the DTC's you have listed above. Please go through these guides and get back to us with what you find out.

Thanks,
Alex
