I am putting this engine back together after replacing the head gaskets. I have number one piston to TDC and just want to make sure the sequence to tighten the rocker arms is the same as other 5.3 engines since the torque sequence and pounds was different on this for the heads.

These are typically lubed and then installed in a few steps. With it on #1 TDC you start on the exhaust rockers on 1, 2, 7, and 8 Then go to the intakes on 1, 3, 4 and 5. Those all get tightened to 22 lb ft. Now roll the crank over 360 degrees (1 turn) and torque 3, 4, 5 and 6 exhaust and then 2, 6, 7 and 8 intake rockers they get torqued to 22 lb ft as well. Now I normally rotate it again and run through them again just to be sure. Then I like to add lube to them again, so the bearings are not starved. Now install the rocker covers.
