I have Landcruiser 200 diesel 4.5 turbo, I want to replace transfer box for 70 series cruiser. I want to get mechanical engage and to be able to use part time four wheel drive. Is it possible?

Welcome to 2CarPros.

Honestly, we only deal with direct fit parts. When you make a change like you mentioned, there are variables you have to keep in mind. For example, are there speed sensors involved? If so, how will it affect the traction control, ABS, speedometer, transmission shift perimeters, and so on. You can't remove the computer system it came with and without the correct inputs, you will end up with issues.

With that, I guess I am saying I wouldn't recommend doing it. I realize anything is possible with enough money and knowledge, but it isn't going to be as simple as unbolt one and bolt the new one in.

Let me know if you have other questions.

Take care,
Joe

I really appreciate for your reply, I thought it is manual transmission so it could be easy.

Welcome back:

I think a manual transmission may eliminate some of the concerns, but not all. I wish I had a better answer for you. There was a time when making changes like this was very easy, but things have sure changed. Those are my thoughts on the change, but maybe someone else knows a way to do it. And, you are very welcome.

Please feel free to come back in the future if you need anything.

Take care,
Joe
