When I put my truck in 4WD AUTO, 4WD HI or 4WD LO, it makes a whining sound and sometimes sound like it is grinding traveling and it will not turn without making a noise. Any suggestions on what is wrong or is going wrong?

Thanks!

Good evening.

There are bearings inside the transfer case that may be the reason for the noise. You should check the oil in the case and see if there is any metal in the fluid.

It sounds like it will need to come out and be inspected.

Thank you!
I want you to know that I could not have done my top overhaul on my truck listed above 1500 SLT model. Vortec engine LH6. (Cylinder gasket set, intake manifold gasket set, cylinder solenoid manifold and lifter AMF set and new PVC valve cover) and all the torque specs and values that you provided me without you! My engine is running so good and so far it is not burning oil and using antifreeze! Hallelujah! Thank you so much for your expertise!
