The 4t45 transmission starts making this gurgling sound. There is a cap on top I took off and when looking down in it the fluid looks to be circulating but the color looks like watered down chocolate milk. As I had driven about 60 miles home the car ended up showing P0842 and P0742. By the time I made it home and yes it slipped horribly and if I got around 50-55MPH the worse it got, and take-offs were just as horrible. I had just previously put 1/2 bottle bars stop leak in my top radiator hose to seal a hole in bottom left side of radiator. The car was already making noise before I had done that but I didn't have any trouble with the shifting or any codes. But I did, however, clean my dash cluster and front/center of dash where the radio and heater control panel are. Because lights had gone out on the climate panel, I was curious to see which bulbs it took and how hard it would be to change them? I didn't spray cleaner or Windex but, in my towel, lightly and then wiped everything off. As I started the car it shook so badly and missed like a freight train. I checked the codes, and it was the throttle position sensor I do believe and thought maybe I somehow triggered it when I wiped/cleaned the inside of the car and wiped all the plastic panels down with resolve. But I never sprayed resolve but on my towel. I'm just stating everything that took place with vehicle and noises in case it does mean something as far as wires go and moisture from my towel. But it just seemed weird as to how everything at once just seemed to happen. The car has 171,242 miles. It had a little over 120,000 miles when I got it from an individual who said it had been changed but I'm thinking otherwise considering I have noticed a few other small things he lied about as well.

Hello,

The most common cause of the P0842 code is a faulty electronic pressure control solenoid. Other causes can include:

Dirty, contaminated, or low transmission fluid.
Blocked transmission fluid passages.
Mechanical internal transmission failures.
A faulty PCM or TCM, in very rare cases.

The P0742 code can be caused by a variety of things. The following are the most common:

Dirty transmission fluid.
Low transmission fluid.
Faulty torque converter clutch solenoid valve.
Internal mechanical problem with the transmission.
Torque converter clutch solenoid valve harness or connectors could be bad.
Torque converter clutch solenoid valve circuit could be shorted or open.

As both codes share low or dirty transmission oil as a common cause I would suggest first carrying out a transmission oil change.
