When I shift my truck into four wheel drive it shuts off my engine. I do not know what is causing this. Also, does the propeller shafts going to the front wheels stay engaged all the time even when not in four wheel drive? Thanks in advance for helping me on these questions.

Hello,

It sounds like you have a transfer case encoder that is shorted out. Here is the location of the part please unplug it and try the four wheel drive button to see if the engine still stalls. If the engine stays running replace the encoder.

Check out the diagrams (below). Let us know what happens and please upload pictures or videos of the problem.

Cheers, Ken
