third brake light flickers intermittently

third brake light stays on, and flickers intermittently, when ignition is off.

pull brake pedal up and see if still does it. if it does not then the brake switch may be bad as it is directly wired to it. otherwise it has been tapped into and is sending power when it should not or there is aback feed from multi function switch sending to brakes. However, regular stop lights should work then.
