This is a well taken care if Jeep where I am an aircraft mechanic, wifes car, driven 110-120 miles a day on highway changing oil and filter aproximately at 4500 - 5000 miles and balance rotate every second oil change. Transmission filters changed etc and all the simple at conclusion electrical problems fixed by me. Good vehicle with the Mercedes tranny. Made own tranny dipstick. 259,000 miles. Even got 103,000 miles on Michelin MXV4 Primacy tires. Started hearing on cold mornings it take a few seconds for the cam chain tensioners to pressurize, and chain running against tensioner arms, but then quiets in just a few seconds. Just got home from a month long trip with wife continuous use. Heard the car today where I started it and after a few seconds the sound did not go away. So I don't really have time for this now but I believe it is time to change as I squirted WD-40 on the belt idler pulleys and sound did not change. I have read on Jeep forums but found nothing on changing these on this engine. I have read tonight around the net that the tensioner pistons being replaced twice once from parts on ebay and the. From discount house and both pistons bad shortly. So guess need to go with OEM tensioner pistons whoch are 60 it seems piece. Discout house 400 w/out gears. But I have no torques or guidance or even know if gaskets come with kits and I bet I will need to take rocker covers off and if that so I bet intake. I have only till Monday and this is Thursday night. No other vehicles for her to use and I need to go back oto work for another 18 days on the 28Jan which is a week away and she has no other boyfriend to help. Guidance? Manual pdf's?
