This car continues to blow fuse (30amp) while driving on the road and mostly when going across a bump along the road causing to cut car off and changing out fuse every time.

Hi,

It sounds like you have a loose wire or one that is shorting to ground at times.

I would be happy to help, but I need more information. Which 30-amp fuse are you referring to? Is it located under the hood or is it in the vehicle?

I attached a pic of the fuse box under the hood and highlighted the one I suspect is the problem one. Please take a look at it and let me know if that is correct.

Take care,

Joe

Thank you for your response. It is that one and I have taken box loose and look under but don’t see any wire cut, making contact or broken. Thanks

Hi,

I just went through the schematics. Power from that fuse goes to the ignition switch itself. From there, it goes to a few different places, specifically the fuel injection relay and ECM. (See pics 1 and 2) What is going to make this difficult is this. First, it is intermittent, so there is a good chance of sitting and running, nothing will happen. Second, we can't remove or disconnect any of the indicated components to see if the fuse still fails because the engine won't run. So, we need to do this in a different manner.

Since this happens when hitting bumps, we need to start by simply having the engine running and wiggling wires at the locations of interest to see if there is a specific component that causes the fuse to fail and the engine to stall.

First, check the wiring at the ECM. It is located on the passenger side behind the kick panel. See pic 3 wiggle the connectors and inspect the wiring for anything that is loose or damaged.

Next, move to the fuel injectors. Do the same with them at each connector. See pic 4.

If nothing is gound, go to the ignition switch and do the same. See pic 5.

Let me know what you find.

Joe
