I'm tired of computers in cars. They break down too often and they are needless. I fish in remote areas an want to know if I can rip any and all computers out if this vehicle and just have a manual engine/transmission system that has less worry and far more reliable.

Can I do this or would I have to replace the Triton engine in it along with the transmission?

The quick and simple answer is -- no. For better, or for worse, the computers and all related sensors and controlled components are an emissions control system -- even if they do (or don't) control other systems.

Figure the new vehicles these days though. A separate computer that controls your AC, suspension, brakes, engine, safety systems (air bags), headlight alignment, navigation, and on and on and on. And many are interlinked with another, or several others.

Yep --- I love my '75 truck.

Edit add on: You can always 'upgrade' the engine to a more fuel efficient one - but you cannot 'downgrade', and ripping out what ya got to likely change to a carb system is an obvious downgrade. I'm sure many have done it in a "non inspection" State, but it is ill-advised.
