Where can I find a 2.2K ohm OEM resistor

I have looked online.
I know that I can buy a regular 2.2K ohm resistor and solder it or wire nut it together.
Mine isn't bad at the present time but I want one for a spare in case of being out on the rd. And if mine shorts out or opens up when I might be to far away from home.

Good afternoon,

Radio shack is a good place if you any around your area.

Best Buy sold resistors of all different sizes as well. Try shopping for them online for all the stores and have it delivered to your home.

Beyond that, I would try Grainger's if you have one around your area.

Do you know how that resistor comes out of it's hard plastic case it's in? I can't get mine out.

Okay, when the engine is cold, a full 12 volts is sent to the ignition coil for sending spark to the plugs. When the engine warms up, a full 12 is not required to get the spark needed to fire the plugs so the voltage is lowered by the resistor wire to about 8 volts.

Having the full 12 does not do damage but is not needed to operate the coil when it is hot.

It will not allow me to upload the picture of where this resistor is on the truck, I've tried it multiple ways with no success.

The resistor has a blue wire coming from it going to one side of the coil, the other side of the resistor has a W/G wire running to the computer.

Okay, I got it and looked and it is just what I told you.

I explained why it is in the circuit back a couple of posts. This is the post.

This resistor probably works similar to those ballast resistors did years ago, cutting the voltage down after the engine is started.

That is exactly what I have been trying to tell you.

The newer cars have different controls from the older units.

Let me ask you another question relating to the 2.2K ohm resistor, when I took that 2.2K ohm resistor out and started the truck why did the truck keep running? I only let it run for a couple of minutes.
Does that resistor only work after the truck is warmed up cutting the voltage down to the coil?

Yes, it does.

It will lower the voltage when the engine gets warm.
