2017 Toyota Axio. For the past months every once in a while when driving my car will feel like I have to mash harder for it to take off, it will do that for a half an hour or so then back to normal. just recently it was working good then suddenly I heard like a misfire and feel like the car missing when I stop by a light it idles normal but the lights change and I try drive off is like it don't want to move, very very slow until it builds up to a point but not feeling normal at all.. after I when to get it checked everything reads good but showing up a "system lean" we check the air flow sensor, check injectors and still getting the problem after all the attempt starting and revving I notice my plugs got wet and black also seeing some smoke and transparently gas going down in the oil.

I suspect this is all related. We need to start with changing the plugs and oil. Then we need to find out if the issue of hard to accelerate happens again. At this point with no codes but fouled plugs and misfiring we need to start with the basics. If the plugs turn black again then we need to take different action but for now, once this is done we can check for vacuum leaks.

Here is a guide to help with that:

Let me know if you find a vacuum leak and if you need help repairing it. Then let me know what happens after we change the plugs and oil. Thanks

I did change the plugs and they got back black one time. also change the oil but didn't attempt much cranking so the oil level is the same. it's Toyota Corolla Axio 2017 2nr-fe engine.

Okay. The fact that you have a system lean code, we need to chase that then.

What was the actual code?

Here is a guide that covers the basics but this is where we are going to go. The fact that the plugs are wet and black doesn't support a lean misfire but we will sort this out.

Not trying to take over the thread, but isn't this car under warranty? I'd drive it to the dealer and let them play with it.

Hi, good morning. still waiting on the mechanic haven't seen him for the morning.. will a vacuum leak also cause a hard start when the engine is cold? Because the last attempt to start I was getting a hard start, missing until it heats up, smoking after it heats up it idles with a very little miss almost to normal, but when driving am getting a delay I has to touch the accelerator very light for it to pickup if not I will hear like a pinkle just a little louder.

Can the MAP sensor or the O2 sensor be causing this also? because the car is pretty much like new never did anything on it but change oil and oil filters and air filters nothing else.

Yes. If you have lean codes and these symptoms then basically it is saying the air fuel ratio is off. This could be because there is more air coming in (vacuum leak) or a fuel delivery issue causing the engine to run lean. Or it could be a "perceived" issue from a faulty sensor which is causing the PCM to run the engine lean.

So we need to start with the specific code and start the testing. Did you find the actual code that was in the computer? Thanks

Okay, now now came back from the garage I saw a p2165.

Gas keep wetting the plugs mainly in mainly 1 and 2 cylinders.

We change the plugs again it ideals better wen plugs are dry and engine hot, but still hesitate when I mash the accelerator and hard starts wen cold.

But what still remain is why the so much gas and why the hesitating?

Hi good day.. I just want to say thanks for all the help you all give I appreciate it. but it turned out that my tank had diesel mix with the gas. so we had was to drain the tank and injector rail apparently it had diesel in the gas station lines.. I can't see where I can make that mistake.

Oh wow. That is frustrating. Yeah I agree that the fuel pumps are much different so you would think you would notice it if you used the wrong one.

If it were the stations fault, I am sure they had others with this issue so I would call them and tell them about it. If in fact they are responsible then they should reimburse you for the expense.

Thanks for the update. That is good info for others that may experience this same issue.
