Heater only blows cold air?

The heater core lines are both hot to the touch at the heater box in the console, so I'm not plugged up. Plenty of antifreeze. I replaced the blend door actuator on the driver's side and verified the passenger side was operating but still there was no heat. All the selectors are working but when I rotate the temperature selector there is no change and no sound, only continuous cold air. Thoughts?

Hi,

There should be one blend air door actuator. I'm not sure which one you are referring to when you said the one was working.

As far as the actuator, have you checked to make sure it is getting power?

I attached the wiring schematic below, so you have a reference. Also, when you installed the new actuator, did you test it before installing it?

Let me know.

Take care,

Joe

I replaced the one under the driver's dash, major pain to get to. I verified it rotated when I changed the position selector, and it diverts the air correctly. I did not verify any wiring voltage but did not see any pushed pins since the unit operates. The other unit is behind the glove box, and it operates the cabin air diverter fine. Am I not looking at the right actuators?

Hi,

They are not user-friendly. LOL

So, if I understand, before installing the new actuator it did respond when you changed the temperature request switch. Is that correct? But it doesn't work when you install it, correct?

As far as the blend air door, it is to the right of the center of the dash. Is that the one you replaced?

I attached a pic below that shows the connector location.

Let me know.

Joe

That's not what I replaced, I did the one behind the wheel to the right and the one behind the glove box. I'll check this one out and let you know. Thank you.

Hi,

Let me know what you find. I miss the old days when they had a cable. It made things much easier. LOL

Regardless, let me know what you find.

Take care,

Joe

Well, I found the one you are talking about and when I rolled the temperature selector around, it actuated, and the heat came on. I didn't do anything different; it just came on all of a sudden. I hope it doesn't quit again but I won't rotate it again until it gets warm again just in case. That is in a terrible location. Thanks for the assistance.

Hi,

I'm glad to know you found it. Honestly, I can't imagine how they could make it more difficult to work on them.

Regardless, I'm glad you have heat. Take care and feel free to come back anytime in the future.

Joe
