Hello,

when im driving my car when I approach 3-4k rpms my tach will shoot up 1k rpm and then drop back down and it feels like my car is driving normally. It only seems to do this in 2nd through 5th gear. Someone rear ended me a week ago and it seemed to have started then. Do you have any idea what this might be? Thank you for your time

It may be a trans problem if it shoots up and engine revs but car doesn't go anywhere. Or it possibly could be an axle shaft that has slipped out of trans at that particular time. But this would need to be physically seen in order to make a better determination. Especially if it seems to be after an accident.
