getting a start up noise that continues for a few seconds

I hear a VERY loud noise when running the A/C in my Nissan Versa. It has a very loud start up noise and continues to 'click and hum' every few seconds when on. Normal? Thoughts? (it is a 2011 Versa HB S)

No it isn't normal, it will be a covered repair under manufacturers warranty.
