Hey ya'll,

i have read about a common problem with these kia sorrentos and i've got it now. The airbag light recently came on, and it could be anything from a loose connection, corroded connection, sensor gone bad, to an actual problem with the airbag.

it's obviously coding, but I don't have a code reader. Do you have any advice on how to DIY as much as possible without spending $$$ at the dealer?

steps so far:

1. Unplugged the battery for 45 min to let voltage run out to clear the codes.
2. Checked for obvious problem with the wires under the seats. I pushed them as close together as possible without disconnecting them. (Have a fear that the airbag could deploy on me?)
3. Reset the battery and the indicator is back on.

You have to have a pro read the air bag problem that is only way. Any garage can do it. This should be fixed or looked at by a pro anyhow as it can blow off due to having a rollover sensor integrated in the air bag itself and moved or jostled to much will let it explode.
