2011 Hyundai Tuscon, 35k miles. Car would make loud grinding noise when moving gear lever from Park to D or R, or moving it anywhere, would cause grinding sound, and dashboard console would not work for A/C, Radio & headlights would not work. Also, burning smell coming from near engine area (right front under hood). Scheduled dealer apptment, then symptoms disappeared. Brought car into dealer for problems, they found nothing, even after running diagnostics.

3-4 days later, same exact problems re-occrured, this time, I took cell ph video. After shutting off car for 5-10 min, wnet to start it, & ignition key turned all way on but nothing happened. Towed to dealer. They said it was dead ignition switch.

I am very concerned what the grinding may have done to transmission, or starter or cams/head, plus the burning smell was strong. They said a new ignition switch should correct everything.I am doubtful as I like other systems were damaged by grinding and burning smell. Car is under full warranty now, don't want a damaged engine soon or after warranty expires. Please advise what systems should be checked, mechanic said he would check the starter plate(?) After getting the new ignition switch in.

Advice please, thanks

I doubt that the ignition switch is at fault, if it was the only thing that would be affected that would make the noise you are hearing would be the started trying to engage the running engine, if this is the case, get the starter removed and inspect the drive and the ring gear for damage, start here.
