Hello,

There is a thin film on the upper side of my headlight lens that does not disappear, even after car washing. I tried scraping it off with a cloth, but instead see white lines where I tried scraping it. There is a picture attached of one of the affected headlight lens. Please help. Thanks.

The detailers take a fresh single edge razor blade and actually scrape the outside oxidized layer of plastic off, then with progressively finer grits, sand and polish the fresh layer of plastic crystal clear. Probably dont want to try this at home, it does take a bit of experience to obtain a desirable outcome. Proceed with caution.

How do I prevent further oxidation of the lens and why did it start oxidizing only 3 years since the vehicle was made? I drove through hours of heavy rain a few days ago and am wondering whether that caused the oxidation? Also, how much would a body shop charge to fix this? Can I use products like Meguiar's Headlight Restoration Kit to fix the problem or should I just go to a body shop?

I dont know of a way to prevent oxidation on the surface of the headlamp lens. A call to an auto detailer familiar with your car would be my suggestion.
