2009 Volkswagen Van interlock

I recently had my vehicle serviced for a recall on the ignition. Upon driving after install I arrived at destination put the vehicle in park but left the motor running. When I attempted to put my vehicle back in gear in would not come out of park. I then shut off the vehicle restarted it and it then went into gear. This problem is ongoing. Volkswagen dealer assessed thr problem at which time said it had nothing to do with the new ignition install. Wondering if this is at all possible
